President Truong Tan Sang to visit Myanmar
The President of Myanmar confirmed to create all favorable conditions for investment projects of Vietnam to Myanmar.

At the invitation of the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Thein Sein, His Excellency President Truong Tan Sang and Madame, accompanied by a high-level delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam paid a State visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on 29/11/2012
On the afternoon of 29/11, an official reception was held solemnly to welcome to President Truong Tan Sang and Madame, accompanied by a high-level delegation of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the Presidential Residence in Nay Pyi Taw. After that, His Excellency President Truong Tan Sang held bilateral talks with His Excellency President U Thein Sein.
His Excellency President Thein Sein welcomed His Excellency President Truong Tan Sang, Madame and high-level delegation of Vietnam on his State visit to Myanmar and highly appreciated the meaning of this visit to make an important contribution to traditional relations of friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between Vietnam and Myanmar for further development in the coming time.
His Excellency President Thein Sein also thanked Vietnam for support for Myanmar in political, economic and social reform.
His Excellency President Truong Tan Sang expressed his pleasure for the first visit to Myanmar; congratulated the Government and people of Myanmar on recent achievements recorded in the course of reform, national harmony, national development and international integration; expressed belief in people of Myanmar to obtain greater achievements in national construction and development; and carried out successful role of the Chairperson of ASEAN 2014 and host country of SEA Games 2013.
In the talks, two leaders expressed pleasure about good development of traditional relations of friendship and multi-faceted co-operation between Vietnam and Myanmar after over 35 years of diplomatic relation establishment; highly valued better and more reliable political relation through the recent high-level visits, including the State visit to Vietnam by President Thein Sein in March 2012.
The two Leaders emphasized necessity to strengthen discussions and contracts as well as exchange in order to further tighten reliability and mutual understanding.
The two Leaders also requested two parties to effectively deploy existing bi-lateral cooperation mechanisms such as Joint Commission, Political Reference and Trade Cooperation Sub-Committee …, regularly checked deployment of the signed cooperative agreements to solve problems and push up common cooperation.
The two Leaders agreed to enhance defense-security co-operation on the basis of the Agreement of Defense Cooperation signed in 2011 and the Agreement on Combating Crimes signed in 2004, and to establish a vice-ministerial security dialogue mechanism between Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Myanmar’s Ministry of the Interior.
The two Leaders welcomed important results in economic-commercial-investment cooperation between two countries in the recent time, particularly in 12 prioritized areas which had been agreed upon by the Leaders of both countries in 4/2010. They reaffirmed their commitments to further enhancing trade promotion activities, inclusive of organizing trade fairs in two countries to introduce products, to bring annual trade volume to US$500 million by 2015. President Thein Sein confirmed to create all favorable conditions for Vietnam’s investment projects in Myanmar.
The two Leaders expressed their satisfaction over further strengthening and expanding cooperation in different areas such as agriculture-forestry-fishery, industrial crops, telecoms, oi and gas, mineral exploitation, traffic-transport, labor, culture-sports-tourism …; agreed to assign to concerned ministries and departments for conducting negotiation and early signing some other agreements in order to create legal basis for pushing up wider cooperation in the areas. President Thein Sein proposed Vietnam to share experiences in the course of reform and economic development.
Regarding international and regional matters, the two Leaders confirmed to continue close cooperation and coordination in the multilateral cooperative forums as well as mutual support for election to the regional and international areas. His Excellency President Truong Tan Sang reaffirmed that Vietnam would support and stand ready to co-ordinate with Myanmar in the latter’s capacity as the Chair of ASEAN in 2014.
The two Leaders reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and marine freedom in the East Sea; resolved disputes by peaceful measures on a basis of respect for international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); support of the ASEAN Declaration on Six Principles on the East Sea, including the full implementing of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and the early achievement of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
After the talks, His Excellency President Truong Tan Sang and His Excellency President Thein Sein witnessed to sign two cooperative documents, including “Memorandum of Understanding on the Exchange of Banking Supervision Information between the State Bank of Vietnam and the Central Bank of Myanmar” and “Agreement on Petroleum Co-operation between Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Energy Planning Department of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
